Paula Rodriguez a first-year PhD student in Computer Science at Harvard University, advised by Prof. Milind Tambe. Her research interests lie broadly at the intersection of applied mathematics, public policy, and sustainable development. In particular, she is interested in the use of computational and mathematical methods to address global development challenges that can assist in the design of evidence-based public policies.Paula holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes (2018). She was a Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) Fellow at The Alan Turing Institute in 2020 and a Student Undergraduate Research Fellow (SURF) at Cornell University in 2018. Paula also serves as a Women in Data Science (WiDS) ambassador for Bogota and has been a co-organizer for the Machine Learning for the Developing World (ML4D) Workshop since 2020 and she is serving as the lead organizer for ML4D 2021.
Tejumade Afonja is a master's student at Saarland University studying computer science. She is currently conducting research under the supervision of Prof. Mario Fritz on generating private synthetic table datasets at Cispa Helmholtz. Previously, she conducted research in generative audio model extraction during her virtual residency at the University of Toronto and Vector Institute in the lab of Prof. Nicolas Papernot. She holds a Bachelors of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (2015), where she worked on the fabrication and design of Robot Vacuum Cleaner for her undergraduate thesis published in Alexandria Engineering Journal by Elsevier (2018). Tejumade is a co-organizer of AI Saturdays Lagos, an AI community in Lagos which she co-founded in 2018, Mechanism Design for Social Good (MD4SG) development working group, and Machine learning for the developing world (ML4D) NeurIPS workshop. She is associated with several other workshops such as BIA, WIML, ICLR, Deep Learning Indaba, AI4D and DSA where she occasionally volunteers or mentors.
Konstantin Klemmer is a PhD student at the University of Warwick and the Machine Learning for Good (ML4G) lab at New York University. He has also spent part of his PhD at the Alan Turing Institute, TUM and DLR. Konstantin’s research focuses on machine learning methods for geospatial data and applications in computational sustainability. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Freiburg, Germany and a Masters from Imperial College London and UCL.
